Planning Proposals & Rezoning

Before a planning proposal is progressed, we can undertake a preliminary review of the site, the existing planning framework and the proposed amendment.

Our review can include:

• consideration of the existing zoning and development standards;
• review of relevant strategic planning documents and policies;
• consideration of the surrounding land use and development context;
• identification of the planning justification required to support the proposed amendment;
• consideration of potential environmental, infrastructure or servicing issues; and
• advice on the likely planning proposal pathway and supporting information required.

Where a planning proposal is progressed, we can assist with the preparation of the planning documentation required to support the request.

Our involvement can include:

• preparation of the planning proposal report;
• assessment of the proposed amendment against the relevant strategic planning framework;
• coordination with architects, urban designers, traffic consultants, engineers and other specialists where required;
• preparation of planning justification for changes to zoning or development standards;
• review and coordination of supporting technical reports; and
• assistance with Council or Department requests for additional information.

Planning proposals often involve ongoing engagement with Council and depending on the proposal, other government agencies.

We can assist with planning responses, coordination with the project team and review of issues raised during the assessment of the proposal.
